The Meteors Vs. The World parts I & II reissued on vinyl in August via Svart Records
The original creators of Psychobilly music, The Meteors began as a reaction against soft neo-rockabilly music of the late 70’s rock revival era. Since then the loud, sneering lovers of horror, perversion and death have released a few dozen records and are still going strong, over 40 years into their career of evil. The Meteors are all about raucous, die-hard, and wildly entertaining mix of rockabilly, country, surf and punk rock'n'roll to the fullest.
The Meteors Vs. The World was originally released by Anagram Records on a double CD back in 1999 and split into two separate vinyl editions, parts I and II, on the same year by Raucous Records. The double album is a collection of 17 Paul Fenech composed songs, half a dozen live tracks from a headlining set at the Tenth Anniversary Big Rumble held at Great Yarmouth’s Vauxhall Holiday Park, two tracks recorded live in Las Vegas, five alternative versions of previously released songs, plus two bonus tracks.
The live material is crisp and clearly recorded and captures The Meteors in their prime, presenting six tracks delivered with the power of an assault force, while the studio stuff was laid down at the band’s own hi-tech In Heaven studio. The Meteors’ own songs are bolstered by suitably butchered covers such as These Boots Were Made For Walking and Wild Thing. In addition the hidden cover songs from the original double CD edition are there too; on Part I you get the bands take on the Beach Boys' I Get Around and on Part II they destroy Elvis Presley’s Rock-A-Hula Baby.
Now reissued with new limited vinyl color variants, Svart Records is proud to bring these hot rocking Psychobilly wild rides back on the market.
The Meteors Vs. The World Part I is available on Svart exclusive Yellow/Red marble vinyl, limited Purple vinyl, and classic Black vinyl. Release date August 22nd, 2025.
